Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery – U.S. Green Card Lottery
Not Applicable for Indian Nationals
The Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery, commonly known as the Green Card Lottery, is a U.S. government program that offers permanent residency to individuals from countries with historically low rates of immigration to the United States.
Unfortunately, India is not eligible for the DV Lottery program due to its high immigration volume to the U.S. in recent years. Citizens of India cannot apply for the DV Lottery, but alternative immigration options such as employment-based (EB-1 to EB-5) or family-sponsored visas may still be available.
Quick Facts:
- Purpose: To promote diversity by welcoming immigrants from underrepresented countries
- Eligibility: Based on country of birth, education, and work experience
- India Status: Not eligible under current DV Lottery regulations
- Alternatives for Indians: F1 Student Visa, H1B, EB-1/EB-2/EB-5, Family-Based Visas
